Enjoy discovering new skills and develop a range of beading, jewelry making, and embellishment techniques. Students gather to learn some of the many interesting processes in macramé and knotting. Transform already existing pieces into something new and different, complementing them with vintage and new beads, buttons, or findings. Throughout the course, we'll create a collection of instant favorites for gifts or for yourself, while building a strong foundation for designing future projects. Aside from the nuts and bolts of practical jewelry making, we'll focus on color, balance, arrangements, and intuitive design - creating a collection of jewelry and other crafts that bring your treasures to life. Listed materials needed on first day of class. Approximate cost of materials is $20. Required Text: Hemp Masters: Ancient Hippie Secrets for Knotting. Text available at the UNM Bookstore.
