Receive an orientation to the most common form of substance abuse treatment delivery in the US: group therapies. What kinds of treatment can be effectively delivered in group format? Skills and styles for managing groups are presented, along with important format issues (open vs. closed groups, confidentiality, cross-talk, group size, managing attrition). Ways to combine individual and group therapies are discussed. Differences from mutual-help groups are considered.
