Fremont’s actions in the Bear Flag Rebellion of June, 1846, led to the eventual annexation of California by the United States, but whether or not he was working on President Polk’s behalf remains a mystery.  This question will be answered and discussed by viewing a short documentary and with a specific case study on the conquest of California by John C. Fremont.
