A Sampler of Women Artists - Part Two

« back to classes page
Be they Renaissance portrait artists, twentieth century abstract painters or modern artists working in mediums too diverse to count, women artists have faced discrimination throughout history. Discouraged from creating, they were often barred admission to arts guilds and academies. Too often, their creations have been lost to posterity, considered inferior, or misattributed to more famous male artists. Last semester we discussed a handful of women artists who aren't household names. We’ll continue our theme of looking at a variety of women artists - some famous, others not so much.
