Bob Wills (1905-75) is known around the world as the "King of Western or Cowboy Swing." Most people believe he invented Texas swing single-handedly. Various incarnations of his bands gave us hits such as “New San Antonio Rose”, “Steel Guitar Rag”, and “Faded Love”, while also giving us astonishing examples of blazing big band swing such as his recording of “White Heat”. His trademark vocalization appeared in every Playboys song, while his fiddle playing was heard on the radio and in films both with, and without, his band. Come explore the granddaddy of the Bakersfield Sound via copious recorded examples of his now legendary work.
