« back to classes page

What would a tree say if it could talk? Can it tell you its life story? You can find out! This class will introduce students to environmental awareness through the science of dendrochronology, or reading a tree’s growth rings.   Through hands-on activities, students will have a unique opportunity to explore how a tree grows, and learn to determine not just age, but which environmental stresses can effect a tree’s growth, what climate changes have occurred in their own local environment over time and why this is important to our understanding of our past and future.
