« back to classes page
Singer, songwriter, poet, film maker, humanitarian, social activist, and philanthropist Harry Chapin (1942-81) accomplished more in his short 38 years than many people who live to be twice that age. Convinced that “money is for people” he consistently gave away large amounts of his income, while working to fight hunger as a co-founder of World Hunger Year (W.H.Y.) His cinematic songs are filled with the pathos and drama of ordinary life, and although we’ll explore hits such as “Taxi,” “Cat’s in the Cradle” and “W.O.L.D,” we’ll go beyond to the heartbreak of the failed performer “Mr. Tanner,” the fears of “Mail Order Annie” as she meets her husband-to-be for the first time, and many more.
