A new style in art and architecture emerged in Florence during the first half of the 15th century. Five innovative artists initiated and revolutionized this change that influenced future artists for centuries to come. This course focuses on the first two men of the “Big Five.” Lorenzo Ghiberti’s sculpture and Filippo Brunelleschi’s theories and architecture will be discussed.
