The Italian Renaissance: The Continuation of the New Style

This course will continue with the last three artists of the “Big Five” who began the new style of art and architecture in Florence that initiated the rebirth of the classical past in works of art. Our focus begins with Donatello, a genius in stone and bronze, next with the painter, Masaccio, the first artist to portray realistic depictions of Florence, and lastly, on Leon Battista Alberti, a humanist, art theorist, and architect.
