Drugs of Abuse: Introduction to Psychopharmacology

A review of major drug classes, along with common routes of administration and their behavioral effects.  Special attention is given to patterns of drug use in New Mexico and the Southwest.  Methods for recognizing and measuring drug intoxication are discussed.    Physiological and behavioral aspects of addiction are explained, including tolerance, drug interactions, and drug withdrawal (abstinence) syndromes.
