Writing for Magazines

Course number : 14897
« back to classes page
This course seeks to refine journalistic writing skills for magazine features and subgenres, and will follow the premise that good magazine writers are storytellers as much as they are purveyors of facts. The course will explore creative writing techniques unique to magazine nonfiction and will focus on writing, editing, and research skills in preparation for submitting articles for publication to a magazine. In addition to the magazine feature, this class will also address the genres of profiles, reviews, commentaries, how-tos, and destination/travel pieces.

Recommended book: “The Art and Craft of Feature Writing” by William E. Blundell
