This is the foundational course and pre-requisite for the Certificate in Administrative Medical Coding & Billing (In-person program). Knowledge of Medical Terminology and Anatomy is essential in any medical setting. This course introduces the foundations of medical language and human anatomy as it applies to medical coders, billers and office personnel. Prefixes, suffixes, diagnostic and medical terms will be covered as well as human anatomy in illustration form. The overview and discussion of body systems and diseases will be covered.  38104 is one of four required classes to obtain certificate. If an individual has taken this course at another institution in the last 5 years, course can be waived with review of Program Supervisor.

NOTE:  Required textbook Medical Terminology & Anatomy for  Coding; 3rd edition by Betsy J. Shiland ISBN-13: 978-0323427951] is included in tuition and will be distributed when class starts.
