Princeton professor Elaine Pagels’ recent memoir Why Religion? A Personal Story explores her life in relation to her studies and scholarship amidst great loss and tragedy. We will explore Pagels’ personal story, her achievements, her insights into her various published works on lost Gospels (including Thomas and Judas, her study of early Christianity and Adam and Eve, and her study of the Origins of Satan. We will watch and then discuss Pagels’ sermon at the Washington National Cathedral presented April 7, 2019, and at least parts of the forum afterward with Dean Randy Hollerith.
