In a January 24, 2020, New York Times article Ezra Klein described how Constitutional rules governing the Electoral College and the election of Senators and a Supreme Court which permits gerrymandering, voter suppression, and swarms of “dark money” are creating an America where a declining minority of aging White rural evangelical Christian Conservatives rule over a growing majority of ethnically and religiously diverse, young urban Liberals. “By 2040, 70 percent of Americans will live in the 15 largest states. That means 70 percent of America will be represented by only thirty senators, while the other 30 percent of America will be represented by seventy senators.”  The implications are enormous. Is it time to abolish the Electoral College and change the way we select Senators?
